Kanab Hot Air Balloon Festival - Valentine's Date
I'm super lucky to have such a supportive wife. This year had me traveling to Colorado without her over Valentine's Day to meet with mentors and sponsors for The Photo Rehab. We decided to make the most of the following Saturday and celebrate our Valentine's day in Kanab, UT at the Balloons and Tunes Roundup Festival. I love hot air balloons. Growing up, my dad had a friend that owned one and took us on a couple of rides. Those are some of my favorite childhood memories! There's just something inherently adventurous and whimsical about them. We got into town just as the crews were beginning to get the balloons off the ground.
To kill time until the evening festivities, we set out to have a little midday adventure in the Southern Utah landscape.
We returned to Kanab as the sun set to grab some food truck food (one of the best parts of streets fests in my opinion). As we chowed down on gourmet corndogs, the hot air balloon crews got to work blowing up their balloons in Center Street for the "balloon glow."
We returned to the street festival after the balloon glow to finish off our time in Kanab with the lantern launch. Slowly but surely, hundreds of paper lanterns filled the sky and twinkled as they drifted off in the breeze. It felt like we were propelled straight into the scene from Tangled, it was magical to say the least.
We began our trek out of Kanab as the last of the lanterns took flight and drove home, hearts full.
