2024 Europe Trip: Strasbourg, France
Strasbourg, France
Originally, our plan was to take a train from Paris to Heidelberg, Germany, but the morning of our flight out, we found out about a planned train strike that would land on the day we planned to leave Germany. All the alternative routes between Lucerne and Heidelberg were fully booked out. So we decided to pivot and stay in Strasbourg instead. So a mere hours before boarding our flight to Paris, we booked an AirBnB and made some plans for things to see in our new destination.
There’s a type 2 kind of fun that comes from being in a place where you don’t speak the language. Every interaction takes more concentration to communicate. I find myself watching other people very closely to figure out what’s expected or normal in any given situation. It’s pretty uncomfortable in the moment, especially when you embarrassingly fumble through something. I tell myself this kind of discomfort is good for my brain and something about it is fun in hindsight.
The cathedral in Strasbourg was the tallest building in the world between 1647 - 1874, it’s spire shows up in the skyline through the narrow streets all over the city. The level of detail in the architecture is truly mindblowing. We got to go up to the upper landing and overlook the city.
I took over 1000 photos throughout our Europe trip, this is just a quick highlight of what I shot in Strasbourg. If you want to see all the photos I took, you can check out my Europe gallery:
